# Growing/ planting brussels sprouts

# Brussels sprout recipes

The brussels sprout comes from the wild cabbage family and cultivated for its small leafy green buds. Brussels sprouts ideally grow in temperatures between 7 - 24°C. Plants tend to be grown from seeds in seed beds and then re-bedded with a harvest ready  from 90-180 days after planting.

Although brussels sprouts have a love/hate relationship with the British public they are contain a high amounts of vitamins A and C and folic acid ... and are of course synonomous with Christmas lunch.

There are a large number of brussels sprout seed varieties, including:

Bite size brussels sprout seeds - These are bright green, densely packed baby brussels sprouts.
Bosworth brussels sprout seeds - Firm, smooth dark green. Well spaced on the stem for easy picking.
Brigitte brussels sprout seeds - Very sweet and robust brussels sprout with a tight crop.
Silverline brussels sprout seeds - Good for picking from mid November to the end of Jan. Nice taste.
Wellington brussels sprout seeds - A late season sprout with a great flavour.
