French beans also known as Green beans or Runner beans are the unripe fruit of any kind of bean, including the yard-long bean or the winged bean. French beans have been bred for the fleshiness, flavour and sweetness.
French beans are found in two major groups, ‘bush beans’ and ‘pole beans’. Bush beans are short plants that grow to around two ft and produce their fruit in a relatively short period of time. Pole beans require supports, and grow to several feet high however they can take longer to produce fruit.There are a number of French bean varieties. Growing French beans
1/ Prepare planting site by digging over and adding manure.
2/ Make a support for the French beans 60 cm’s apart, secure with twine.
3/ Sow a single French bean seed in a pot filled with compost, water well.
4/ Following germination of seeds plant French beans at the base of each cane.
