# Growing/ planting peas
# Pea recipes
The pea is a green, pod-shaped fruit grown as a cool-season vegetable. Pea seeds can be planted as soon as the soil temperature reaches around 10°C. Generally, peas are grown outdoors during the winter and not in greenhouses.
Peas can either have “low-growing” or “vining” cultivars. The vining type grows tendrils from leaves that wrap around available support. There are a large amount of pea varieties to choose from. Some of the most common pea seeds available include:
Ambassador pea seeds – Ideal fresh or frozen. Big juicy peas.
Ceresa pea seeds – Petit pois at their very best. This variety is semi-leafless.
Delikett pea seeds – A heavy cropping snow pea, which produces stringless pods.
Delikata pea seeds – A mangetout that produces a delicious crop of conventional peas
Feltham First pea seeds - A reliable and packed pea pod.
Greenshaft pea seeds – A very sweet flavour and disease resistant.
Kelvedon pea seeds – A popular dwarf with tightly packed pods.
Little Marvel pea seeds – Offers up a heavy crop of pods in pairs.
Onward pea seeds – A very popular, reliable and tasty pea.
Oregon Giant pea seeds – Juicy mangetout peas with sweet pods.
Peawee 65 pea seeds – Produces a bountiful crop of mouth watering petit pois.
